Visit to Prerna Shelter with SI sisters from SI Amounderness

SIBC members along with Ms. Andrea Sinnot and Ms. Alexa from SI Amounderness, a friendship link club of SIBC visited Prerana, a shelter at Kharghar, Mumbai, that works for girls exposed to trafficking. SIBC organised and played some fun games with the girls and Sisters from SI Amounderness shared brownies with them. They also read a letter written by one of their member’s daughter. The girls were really excited to hear about her life and they all made small thank you cards for her.

Aliya Kedem, SI ISRAEL visit

22nd FEBRUARY 2018

SIBC had a wonderful time of sisterhood and bonding with SI sisters from Israel on the 22nd Feb evening. It was a joyous evening to welcome and interact with the SI sisters from Israel, Ms Aliya Kedem along with a few other prospective members. SIBC organized an interaction meeting with them for exchanging ideas. It was a very fruitful interaction for both the clubs as they explored projects of each club along with opportunities of working together.

The interaction meeting was followed with the Valedictory Programme of the Adult Literacy Drive project of SIBC and Aliya and her club members joined too. Aliya expressed joy to see the overwhelming and confident performances of the ALD participants. She congratulated SIBC on the successful completion of the Adult Literacy Drive.

International Day of the Girl Child 2017

SIBC celebrated International Day of the Girl Child on 13th October 2017 in collaboration with our Friendship Link Club, SI of Amounderness, UK with a visit to Prerana, a shelter at Kharghar, Mumbai, that works for girls exposed to trafficking. SIBC organised and played some fun games for the girls and also distributed sweets on the occasion of the festival Diwali. Andrea Sinnot, Executive Committee member of SI of Amounderness distributed clothes and stationery for the children. Earlier during the afternoon, members of the club spent time discussing the various projects that could be done with SI Amounderness in a collaborative manner. During this meeting, Andrea also handed over the friendship link certificate to SIBC.

Visit by Andrea Sinnot, SI of Amounderness

Andrea Sinnott of SI Amounderness, who is based in Preston, UK visited SIBC on 31st March 2017. It was a very interactive and informative session. Andrea was very impressed by our work and projects that we undertook. She also expressed her desire to co-support one of our projects.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Lata Krishnan, President NASI, Dr. Sunita Wadikar, Dr. Reni Francis, Dr. Sunita Jain, Ms. Mamta Patil, Ms. Yvette Lee, Ms. Swasti Dhar and Ms. Preeti Pawar. SIBC members presented her with a coffee mug as a token of love.

Visit of Jill Lane, Friendship Link Co-ordinator of SI Plymouth

Jill Lane, Friendship Link Co-ordinator of SI Plymouth visited the members of SIBC on 15th Novemebr 2016.
Founder President Daphne Pillai, President Celina Joy, President Elect Yvette Lee, and ten other members were present to welcome Jill. Yvette gave a presentation on the Programme Action work of the Club. A short video about female infanticide, released on the occasion of International Day of the Girl Child was also shown.
Jill showed some maps and pictures to describe Plymouth, and then talked about SI Plymouth and District and some of the Programme Action work done over recent years. A photo of the 1931 insignia brought a gasp of admiration, and great interest was shown in the ‘He Loves Me/Loves Me Not bookmarks. Jill then presented some books about Plymouth and some photos of SI Plymouth activities.
members also presented Jill a jute bag celebrating 40 years of Soroptimism in India which contained some reports and a copy of EduNation – book written by Dr K M Vasudevan Pillai,Founder of Mahatma Education Society.
It was a wonderful meetig with a promise to work on joint projects in the near future.
