Healthy Body... Healthy Mind

SIBC in association with Pillai College of Education and Research, Chembur launched its 21 days Yoga: Wellness for Women programme on 1st June, 2020. In this initiative, the Yoga sessions is broadcasted on YouTube everyday and later a quiz on basic understanding of Yoga is also shared with the participants in the form of a Google Form. This enabled the participants to practice Yoga at their time and space and gain basic knowledge of Yoga. This initiative aimed at Wellness for Women and Girls especially during this period of Lockdown and staying at Home, with busy work and home schedule a personal time for fitness, mediation and relaxation is often neglected. These sessions helped them to bounce back to rejuvenate and revitalise themselves. These 21-day sessions culminated on 21st June 2020 to commemorate International Day of Yoga proclaimed by the United Nations. The session was broadcasted as a Live Chat with Yoga practitioners Mr. Anup Thomas and Ms. Sneha Pandey who discussed the importance of Yoga in our daily life. A total number of 280 participants enrolled for this programme.

Go Green- World Environment Day

SI Bombay Chembur in collaboration with Chembur English High School organised various online activities to mark the World Environment Day on 5th June, 2020.
The children were sensitized towards the environment through various activities across the week. Students made posters, useful items out of waste, participated in online quiz competition, elocution and collage making.
Following activities were conducted online at CEHS-
1. Let's Nurture the Nature- a Photography contest with their pet plant
2. Boundless Imagination- Poster making competition
3. Grill- Drill- Online Quiz
4. Regard before you Discard- Best out of waste competition
5. Thought into Action- An online English elocution competition
6. Catchphrase Collage- Collage making

COVID- 19: Flavours from your Homes

With India locked-down over the coronavirus and no way to earn money, migrant workers and other marginalised populations are facing many issues. Most of them have either begun walking back to their villages and homes or are fighting hunger and housing issues in larger cities. Millions of migrant workers and daily workers are left jobless and penniless by the full shutdown in the country leading to an exodus from major cities. A leading newspaper published an article on 23rd April, 2020 stating that ‘The nationwide lockdown in India which started about a month ago has impacted nearly 40 million internal migrants’. To help towards this cause, SI Bombay Chembur organised ‘Flavours from your Homes’ a recipe contest for a social cause. As there is strict lockdown in Mumbai, the entire event took place through virtual medium. The event was launched live on You Tube on 3rd May, 2020. This helped the audience to be acquainted with the purpose and objectives of the event. You may find the launch of this event on the following you tube link: The interested participants had to fill a registration form with a registration fee that was circulated among various group on different social media platforms. This registration fee was directly paid by the participants to Milap, an online fundraising portal. In the course of a week’s time, the event had 71 registrations and collected a robust amount of Rs 61,224/ The amount collected was donated directly to the Gurdwara in Panvel, Navi Mumbai through Milap, the online fundraising portal. The Gurdwara is providing cooked meals for nearly 3000 people every day.
