The members of SIBC observed 16 Days of Activism with several outreach and awareness events organised in collaboration with Pillai Group of Institutions. The following is a brief summary:

10th November, 2023
A session was organised for the female support staff of Dr. Pillai Global Academy, New Panvel on gender awareness and rights on 10th November, 2023. Ms. Rajshree Damale, Lawyer, facilitated a very interactive session with the participants on their rights, laws against domestic violence in India and also the need to have different personal and legal documents in place. The women were highly appreciative of the session and have asked for more such sessions.

2nd December, 2023
A very informative and interactive session was held for the parents of Chembur English High school on women’s legal rights. The ladies expressed the desire that men should also be educated on the same topic.

9th December, 2023
An awareness session was organized on ‘Women’s Rights in India’ in association with MES’s Pillai HOC College of Education and Research, Rasayani (PHCER) for the girl students of Banuben Pravin Shah (BPS) Secondary and Higher Secondary School at Tara Village on Saturday, 9th December 2023.
The objective of the program was to spread awareness among the girl students about their rights with respect to domestic violence. The B.Ed. students presented a skit and spoke about the rising issues to the audience. It was an informative and interactive session.

9th December, 2023
A screening of Netflix film “Sitara: Let Girls Dream” by director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy was organised in collaboration with Women Development Cell (WDC) of Pillai HOC College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, Rasayani. The event prompted reflective discussions on girls’ aspirations, empowerment, and the impact of child marriages. Overall, it served as a thought-provoking platform, emphasizing the influential role of storytelling in fostering awareness and social change.

12th December, 2023
An interactive session on Human Rights was organised for the students of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science. The resource person was Adv. Nishita Sachdev, Deputy Legal Manager of Siemens Financial Services.

19th December, 2023
A talk on the theme: ‘UNITE! Say NO to Violence Against Women and Girls’ was organised for the students of Mahatma Night Degree College Of Arts & Commerce, Chembur, Mumbai, in association with their Women Development Cell.
