Visit by Michele Neider Executive Director, L’institut Indo-Canadien Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute
The members of Soroptmist International Bombay Chembur warmly welcomed Ms. Michele Neider, MEd., B.A., C.C., Executive Director, L’Institut Indo-Canadien Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute and her husband Dr. Neider who visited the various institutions of Mahatma Education Society on 17th May, 2011. The meet led to a meaningful exchange of ideas and provided an opportunity to explore the various options for networking, cross cultural co-operation and international goodwill and understanding, The Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute is a binational organization that promotes understanding between India and Canada through academic activities and exchanges.
Their broad-based initiatives support the creation of binational links between academia, government, the business community and civil society organizations by funding research and hosting seminars. Their internships and fellowships provide opportunities for individuals to gain first-hand experience in India or Canada. In addition, their book and journal programme provides valuable resources to students and faculty at their member universities.
The Shastri Institute is funded by and partners closely with government bodies in both India and Canada. The Institute aims to achieve gender equality and reduce poverty by focusing programming on sustainable development and other United Nations Millennium Development Goals. They are named after Lal Bahadur Shastri, Prime Minister of India from 1964-1966.
