The Women Development Cell (WDC) of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science (PCACS), in association with Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur (SIBC), organised a Yoga Shivir titled “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” to commemorate International Yoga Day.
Led by yoga experts from the Art of Living, the session introduced students to the benefits of yoga through asanas, breathing exercises, and meditation. Around 25 students participated enthusiastically and gained practical insights into using yoga to reduce stress, improve concentration, enhance flexibility, and maintain physical and emotional well-being.
The programme emphasised the importance of integrating mindfulness and healthy practices into everyday life, enabling students to better manage academic, personal, and future professional responsibilities. The session concluded with a call to make yoga a regular part of their lifestyle for a healthier and more balanced life.
The initiative aligns with UN SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, by promoting healthy lifestyles and mental wellness, and SDG 4 – Quality Education, by supporting the holistic development and well-being of students beyond the classroom.
The programme was coordinated by the SIBC members and the PCACS Women Development Cell, reaffirming their commitment to fostering a healthy, mindful, and well-rounded student community.

The Social Service Committee of PIMSR in association with Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur organised an awareness session for the hlp staff of Pillai University titled “Fitness in Motion” on the occasion of International Yoga Day. The “Fitness in Motion” session, led by renowned Nutritionist and Fitness Coach Swapna Joshi, focused on promoting health, fitness, and overall well-being among women help staff. The interactive session highlighted the importance of incorporating simple physical activities, mindful nutrition, and healthy lifestyle practices into daily routines. Participants gained practical insights into maintaining physical and mental wellness while balancing professional and personal responsibilities. The initiative contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 – Good Health and Well-being and 5 – Gender Equality, empowering women to prioritise their health, build confidence, and lead healthier, more productive lives. About 45 women help staff attended the program which was coordinated by SIBC members and PIMSr Social Service members Dr. Celina Joy and Dr. Betty Sibil alongwith Ar. Smita Dalvi . The session garnered great feedback and participants appreciated the useful tips and insights into health.

Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur (SIBC) in collaboration with Pillai HOC College of Education and Research (PHCER) celebrated International Yoga Day on Saturday, 20th June 2026, at 3:00 p.m. with great enthusiasm and active participation from faculty members, student teachers, and non-teaching staff. The programme was organised to promote the importance of yoga as an integral part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
The session was conducted by Prof. Archana R. Ghadage, an experienced yoga practitioner and wellness expert. She enlightened the participants about the significance of yoga in achieving physical fitness, mental calmness, emotional stability, and overall well-being. The programme began with a brief introduction highlighting the global importance of International Yoga Day, followed by guided demonstrations of various yoga asanas, pranayama, breathing techniques, and relaxation exercises. Participants actively performed the yoga practices under the expert guidance of the resource person and learned simple techniques that can be incorporated into their daily routine.
Prof. Ghadage also explained the long-term benefits of regular yoga practice in reducing stress, improving concentration, enhancing flexibility, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The interactive session motivated participants to adopt yoga as a lifelong practice for personal well-being and professional effectiveness.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks expressing gratitude to the resource person for her valuable guidance and inspiring session. The celebration successfully created awareness about the holistic benefits of yoga and encouraged all participants to embrace wellness through regular practice.

PHCASC chose this project to introduce students to the fundamentals of traditional yogic practices and encourage a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. The initiative addressed the growing need for physical fitness, mental well-being, and stress management among students. Through guided sessions, participants learned basic yoga asanas (poses), their health benefits, and mindfulness and relaxation techniques that can be incorporated into their daily lives. The project was organized proactively to promote preventive wellness and raise awareness about the importance of holistic health.
The project was carried out by organizing a yoga shivir and practical demonstration for students. Shri Rampalat Yadav, a retired Lieutenant from the Indian Navy, served as the resource person for the session. He introduced participants to the fundamentals of yoga and encouraged them to actively practice basic asanas such as Tadasana (Mountain Pose), Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose), and Shavasana (Corpse Pose). Special emphasis was placed on maintaining correct posture, proper alignment, and effective breathing techniques (Pranayama) to maximize the physical and mental benefits of yoga. Club members coordinated the event by managing the venue, organizing participant registration, and ensuring the smooth conduct of the program, while students actively participated in the practical session.
