SI Bombay Chembur collaborated with Pillai College of Education and Research, Panvel, to organise two national conferences in online mode. The second conference was held on 16th October on the theme of “Gender Equality in the Current Era”, to serve as a platform for for reflection, dialogue, and the dissemination of research on Gender Equality, focusing on the evolving dimensions of gender, inclusivity, and empowerment in today’s digital and diverse world.

Ms. Shruti Nair was the convenor of the conference and SIBC President Ms. Preeti Pawar gave an introduction to Soroptimist International to the participants.

The first expert session by Mrs. Dolly James addressed “Gender Equality, Inclusivity, and Legal Measures.” She explained the interrelation between equality, equity, and inclusion and emphasized the importance of embracing diversity, particularly the inclusion of the transgender community.

In the second expert session, Ms. Yevette Lee, Secretary of SIBC spoke on “Gender-Based Online Harassment and Digital Safety.” She discussed various forms of cyber abuse, including trolling, doxing, and impersonation, highlighting the misuse of AI and deepfakes. Her session underscored the need for awareness, digital literacy, and ethical responsibility in cyberspace

The post-lunch session featured 15 research paper presentations in parallel tracks on the conference theme.

The conference provided a valuable platform for academicians, research scholars, student-teachers and SIBC members to share their perspectives to reimagine gender justice in contemporary contexts
