Speaking at the event, Dr. Pillai said, “Violence against women is one of the biggest forms of abuse of human rights. People should be sensitized on the alarming rise of atrocities towards women. The youth should be made aware of the effects of such gender based violence.”

United Nations leads 16 Days of Activism from 25th November to 10th December against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which aims to raise public awareness and mobilize people everywhere to bring about change. The theme of the campaign for 2017 is “Leave no one behind: end violence against women and girls.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Celina Joy, President-Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur said, “Advocacy in all forms is the best way to highlight the ill effects of violence against women and tackle the mindset of society ”.
