MES’s Pillai College of Education and Research (Autonomous), Chembur, in collaboration with Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur (SIBC), organised an online session on 21st September 2026 to celebrate the International Day of Peace. The theme of the session was “Peace Begins at School – From Research to Reflection, From Reflection to Action.”
The session highlighted the importance of teaching peace, respect, empathy, and peaceful ways of solving conflicts in schools. Dr. Reni Francis explained the Peace Intervention Module and its role in creating a peaceful learning environment. Dr. Sunita Magre shared simple activities, such as storytelling and role-play, to help students understand peace, kindness, and empathy. Ms. Kalyani Arumugam and student-teachers also shared their experiences of conducting peace-related activities in schools. Their experiences showed how teachers can encourage students to respect others, understand different opinions, and resolve disagreements peacefully. The session helped student-teachers understand the importance of promoting peace and building a caring, safe, and respectful school environment.
