SIBC observed International Day for Women and Girls in Science on 11th February, 2023 in association with MES Pillai College of Education and Research, Chembur. An expert talk titled, ‘My Life- My Science: Challenges faced by Women in Science’, by Dr. Shobona Sharma, Retd Senior Professor, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, INSA Honarary Scientist at Institute of Chemical Technology. Dr. Sharma presented data of women and girls in the field of science and how it has improved over the years. She also gave some tips on how girls should overcome the challenges and should not keep a barrier and restrict themselves.

She highlighted on the challenges faced by her in pursuing education and research. She also spoke about advanced research related to malarial parasite. Her area of expertise was PhD in Advanced Research in Molecular Biology and Immunology.
