International Yoga Day 2022

To mark International Day of Yoga 2022, SIBC along with Mahatma Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce, Chembur organized a Yoga workshop for students and faculty members. It was offered by Kaivalyadham Yoga Centre, Mumbai. The theme of the workshop was “Yoga for Humanity”. Yoga for peace was the message shared with participants resource person Mr. Amit Datattray Sarpotdar senior yoga teacher at Kaivalyadham Toga Centre, Mumbai. This was followed by participants performing CYP Common Yoga Protocol Yogasanas guided by the resource person.

SIBC President Namrata Saxena, PAC Yvette Lee, Member Lata Krishnan, teachers and students of the college were present. 123 participants were benefitted.

This activity covered SDG #3.


Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur in association with Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research observed International Day of Yoga on 21st June, 2022 by conducting a power packed yoga session for the underprivileged women who work as helpers at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, New Panvel. The instructor for the session was Ms. Savita (Swaranjali) Shrimant Gaikwad who is an internationally certified yoga trainer and has 7 years’ experience in yoga, meditation & spirituality. She also has around 15 years of experience in the medical field. Swaranjali runs her own yoga institute named YOGA JOURNEY WITH SWARA in Panvel (East) affiliated to Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, The Yoga University International, USA. Apart from teaching traditional yoga, Swaranjali specializes in Artistic Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Hatt yoga & Dynamic meditation.

She started the session with some basic warm up exercises. She stressed on the importance of balancing the mind and body. She urged the participants to focus on their nutrition as well. Different Yoga asanas and exercises were explained and practised during the 90 minute session. Around 40 women participated in the event. Tea and snacks were arranged after the session. All attendees actively participated in the event, which was a great success.
