Project Name – Seed Bomb Making
Date – 6th August 2026
Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur (SIBC), in collaboration with the Nature Club of MES Pillai College of Education & Research, New Panvel, organised a Seed Bomb Making Activity on 6th August 2026. The activity was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Geeta Thakur and involved approximately 36 student teachers and teacher educators. The activity focused on promoting environmental awareness and experiential learning related to biodiversity, seed dispersal, plant regeneration, greening, and ecological restoration. Participants were introduced to the concept and purpose of seed bombs and subsequently engaged in making them using simple, locally available and environmentally friendly materials. The activity addressed the need to move beyond theoretical environmental awareness and provide participants with opportunities to engage in simple, practical and replicable environmental action. The project demonstrated how a low-cost practice such as seed bomb making can contribute to greening and plant regeneration in suitable spaces. It also highlighted the importance of using environmentally conscious materials and encouraged participants to think about how similar activities could be incorporated into educational institutions and community-based environmental initiatives. The collaboration provided an opportunity to engage student teachers and teacher educators in a meaningful environmental activity.
