International Literacy Day 2024
Date: 8th September, 2024
Educational outreach is one of the pillars of SI Bombay Chembur’s programme action towards empowering women and girl children. As such this UN day is very close to our hearts. We observed it with various activities as follows:
Launch of Project PANKH
On the occasion of International Literacy Day, SI Bombay Chembur launched the Year-2 of Project PANKH for the students of Savitribai Phule Shala, Podi, Panvel. The project is being carried out in association with Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research (PIMSR) and will be operational from September 2024 to April 2025. It will be coordinated by our members Dr. Celina Joy and Dr. Betty Sibil. It carries forward the work done by the club in Year-1, which was highly regarded by the teachers and students of the school.
Book Donation Drive
To mark the International Literacy Day 2024, SI Bombay Chembur got together with Radiant Minds Pre-school to hold a book donation drive for the underprivileged children. With the support of our team and parents and their networks, we could collect donations of a truckful of toys, books, clothes and grocery supplies. The collection was donated to Manav Jeevan Society, an NGO that works for underprivileged children.
The event was coordinated by our member Dr. Sunita Jain.
