World Environment Day 2024
We at SIBC celebrated Environment Week along with Chembur English High School. A multi-day programme was charted out to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote sustainable practices among the students. Various activities were organized throughout the week to engage the students.
We conducted poster making, animal face mask making, waste management session, best out of waste flower pots, skit called “Guardians of the Planet”. A very exciting event was a walkathon in which the school kids, SIBC members and teachers did a neighbourhood walk carrying posters and raising slogans.

SI Bombay Chembur in collaboration with Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research (PIMSR) and Pillai College of Architecture (PiCA) celebrated World Environment Day by conducting an innovative event for the women support staff of Pillai Educational Campus at Panvel. The event was kickstarted with Dr. Celina Joy welcoming the participants and explaining the objective of the event. There was a screening of a short documentary on the importance of water conservation in our daily life and a short discussion on the same was conducted by the members. This was followed by poster making activity in which our members Celina Joy, Betty Sibil and Smita Dalvi inspired the women to brainstorm ideas in smaller groups and try their hands at drawing them out with material provided like colour pens, sketch pens and markers. There was a buzz of animated discussion and a flurry of stroke making as the women got engrossed in the task. The output was amazingly creative and the participants greatly enjoyed the chance to put their ideas on paper. Our founding president Dr. Daphne Pillai was present to motivate and compliment them on their posters which will be displayed on the notice boards of the campus. The best of the works were awarded cash prizes to be shared by the group members. The event concluded with tea and biscuits served to all participants.
A total of 54 women support staff participated in the event of poster making on environmental awareness.
